Conference on the Participation of Women, National Minorities and Persons with Disabilities in electoral processes in Albania
Tirana/Vienna, 21/22 January 2020: The OSCE Office on Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) invited Election-Watch.EU to contribute to the conference „Participation of Women, National Minorities and Persons with Disabilities in Elections and Electoral Follow-up“ in Tirana, Albania. Armin Rabitsch and Michael Lidauer shared experiences and lessons learned from their civil society engagement in Austria and the European Union with representatives of the Central Election Commission, political parties, civil society organisations and the media.
The conference comes at a time when Albania is undertaking a significant electoral reform process. Election-Watch.EU was asked by civil society actors for support to develop joint projects in this context. The conference was organised by the OSCE/ODIHR Project Support to Elections in the Western Balkans, which is funded by the Austrian Development Agency and the European Union, together with the OSCE Presence in Albania.
