Principles

The Declaration of Principles for International Election Observation, which was approved within the UN framework in 2005, is an internationally recognised methodology of international election observation signed by the main actors.

The Declaration of Global Principles for Non Partisan Election Observation and Monitoring by Citizen Organizations, also negotiated and adopted within the framework of the UN in 2012, extends and establishes a recognized methodology for election observation by civil society organizations.

The OSCE ODIHR Domestic Observer Handbook for civil society election observation organisations details the work and methodology of election observers.
